There is plenty of speculation in the Mary Winkler case. There will be planty more, as the Grand Jury doesn't convene until June. Here's what's gone on up to now:

Discussed last week in this space was the perplexing mystery surrounding preacher's wife Mary Winkler, charged with murdering her husband. While keeping in mind the victim is the man lying in a grave, I also mentioned the pressures surely faced by ministers' wives and wondered if somehow this woman snapped as a result.

Winkler's Attorneys say "She May be Protecting Someone"
MEMPHIS - An attorney for the preacher's wife accused of murdering her husband says: "She maybe trying to protect someone or something."
Attorney Steve Farese won't elaborate but says Mary Winkler has only told them 10 percent of the story. Farese says her depression maybe the reason she's not telling them much.

Mary Winkler was the quiet, unassuming wife of a small-town preacher, devoted to church and her family. Her husband, Matthew, an energetic, by-the-Bible minister, was a natural leader.

Minister's alleged murder by 'perfect wife' perplexing
One thing I've noticed since Mrs. Winkler's arrest, is there is an enormous outpouring of compassion for her. We don't see this sort of thing for accused murderers very often, especially in a preacher's death that seems so completely unjustified.
