-- Advocates and law enforcement will learn how victims of domestic violence can use technology to increase their safety
WHAT: Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist, The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, The National Network to End Domestic Violence Fund (NNEDV Fund) and the Wireless Foundation's Call to Protect Program will launch a nationwide effort to expand SafetyNet: The National Safe and Strategic Technology Project. Safety Net educates victims of sexual and domestic violence, their advocates and the public on using modern technology to ensure their safety and privacy. SafetyNet also trains law enforcement officials on how to identify and hold perpetrators accountable for misusing technology to terrorize victims. The SafetyNet training schedule for 2005 will be announced.
Attorney General Crist also will kick off a cell phone drive to benefit Florida-based domestic violence programs.
